The most common pain associated with appendicitis is located on the lower right side of the abdomen, between the navel and the right hip. Often, the pain begins with pain around the navel, and when the appendix is inflamed and must be removed, the pain moves to the lower right. Since the tissue near the appendix is also inflamed, the initial pain may turn into sharp pain.
