Arm pain when hitting volleyball may be caused by a variety of reasons. After years of play, it may cause systemic overuse damage, or sudden injury by smashing and applying excessive pressure on one arm. Overuse
Common diseases caused by excessive use of the arm include bursitis and tendonitis. Often referred to as tennis elbow, external epicondylitis is a common source of pain for leyball players. This can be caused by the wear of the tendon of the current arm. Whenever you hit the ball, when you have tennis elbow, stress can cause inflammation and pain. Wrist tendonitis is another common volleyball condition that occurs when the swelling of the wrist is inflamed. Bursitis usually attacks the elbows of volleyball players and may indicate that the swollen cysts become irritated and inflamed when you hit the ball.
Injury
Smashing can cause a variety of sudden injuries such as sprains or broken wrists or fingers, rotator cuff injuries and dislocated shoulders.
