Scientists believe that the emergence of important ALS breakthroughs is partly due to the funds raised by celebrities being watered.

The ALS Association issued a statement announcing the news: "The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Donation Leads to Major Gene Discovery: The largest genetic ALS study ever identified the new ALS gene, NEK1."

About Ice Bucket Challenge
