Why does carbonization make you sick?

Although carbonation provides a fun and unique taste for beverages, it has a less pleasant effect on your stomach, especially if you have too much peptic ulcer or irritable bowel Syndrome and other diseases.

Expansion

Dissolving carbon dioxide gas in water produces carbonation. Not only do you have to take in the liquid of the drink, but you also need to take in the gas. If the body does not vent gas, it may be trapped in the gastrointestinal tract and cause bloating. Excessive inflation of the gas accumulated in the stomach and intestines can cause pain and intensity will vary.

Slower stomach

The European Journal of Applied Physiology and Occupational Physiology found that carbonation affects the rate at which the stomach empties beverages. Subjects given water or another non-carbonated beverage have the fastest emptying time. The stomach of the subject given the carbonated beverage emptied the beverage more slowly. Moreover, the carbonated beverage has a higher stomach gas volume than the non-carbonated beverage. Therefore, if you are drinking carbonated drinks and they cause bloating and stomach pain, this discomfort may last for a while.

Health

Health problems such as gastroesophageal reflux, or GERD; stomach ulcers; or irritating bowls can aggravate the effects of carbonated drinks on your stomach. Carbonation can increase the production of acid and stimulate the inner layer of the stomach, which may be the pain of peptic ulcer. For those with GERD, it is not safe to increase stomach acid because the acid will wear out under the lower esophageal sphincter. This causes it to weaken and return gastric acid to the esophagus, causing pain. The increase in gas in patients with irritable bowel syndrome can be very painful.

Avoid carbonated drinks

In order to avoid the discomfort caused by carbonation, try drinking carbonated drinks. Limit your intake of soda, soda, beer and sparkling wine. High sugar and high calorie drinks can also disturb your stomach. Add a flavor to your water with a non-calorie blend and sweetener.
