Is Muay Thai a good exercise? This is what you need to know

If you want to know if Muay Thai is a good exercise, you may not have tried martial arts - because the answer is very loud and undeniably "yes". The national movement in Thailand is also known as the “eight-limb art” because you can hit with fists, elbows, calves and knees (four two = eight limbs).

How long should you do Muay Thai?

The strength of martial arts varies: Muay Thai can make you sweat like crazy. For example, Tai Chi is a bit cold and can be used for active recovery. (Also interested in Tai Chi? Tai Chi has many benefits.) Either way, consistency and recovery are key.

"Thai Boxing is an exercise. The more you train, the faster your training and results will be," Harris said. She recommends training at least three times a week. “But if your schedule allows you to train more, then train more!”

As with any exercise program, you only need to rest your days smartly. Harris recommends taking a break of at least one day a week. She said: "No matter what activities can ease and relax your thoughts, body and soul, this is what you should do on the rest day."

How to find the Muay Thai gym

Harris teaches Hit House in New York; Thailand's Boxi in Santa Monica in Chicago and the Muay Thai Taekwondo Club in Chicago. (to name a few!)

If you can't find any Muay Thai gym in your area, check out the Taekwondo gym. Many Taekwondo players participate in Muay Thai and vice versa. Harris says you can get good training from any of these sports. (both include kicking and rushing, and depending on the gym, some Taekwondo courses will recruit elbows and knees, just like Muay Thai.)

"It's all about how hard your work is, training ConsistentSex, and is a good student," she said. "As with any form of exercise or exercise, you get what you put into it. "
